Board of Directors
The Native Fish Society boasts a diverse and highly qualified Board of Directors. Members hail from all over Oregon and Washington State and represent a variety of professions and personal backgrounds. Some have pursued careers in fisheries management or environmental work. Others choose to make a difference through volunteerism and activism. Most are avid anglers. And they all share a deep concern for the future of native fish in the Pacific Northwest, and are committed to ensuring that these fish have a future.
Kaitlin Lovell (Co-President) Kaitlin is the manager of the City of Portland’s Science, Fish and Wildlife Program (formerly the Endangered Species Act Program), working to restore wild salmon runs in some of the most urban, and most promising, streams in Portland. Prior to working for the city, she was the salmon policy coordinator and an ESA attorney working for Trout Unlimited where she frequently partnered with Native Fish Society on great wild salmon success stories. In her spare time, you can find her restoring the Molalla River (Milk Creek) headwater ecosystem on her farm in Clackamas County, turning over rocks looking for nymphs for her son to explore or taste testing homebrew. As much as she loves working on behalf of wild, native fish with NFS, she hates getting outfished whenever she’s on the river with Bakke.
Rob Elam (Co-President) Rob is an entrepreneur who founded and was CEO of Propel Fuels, an alternative fuel retailer, which became the west coast’s largest alt-fuel station network. Rob has written and photographed for Fly Fish Journal and The Drake. Rob believes that the most effective way to achieve sustainable populations of wild fish is through grassroots actions like the NFS River Steward program.
Peter Tronquet ( Treasurer) Peter is a partner in and CFO of Bierson Corporation a manufacturing company located in Medford, Oregon. Peter is active in several fish-focused organizations including The North Umpqua River Steamboaters and the North Umpqua River Foundation and is an avid steelheader.
Bill Bakke (Secretary) Bill is not only on the board but is the full-time executive director of the Native Fish Society. A renowned fish conservationist in the Pacific Northwest, Bill is also an adept angler and especially likes chasing steelhead with a fly rod.
Scott Baumer Scott owns and operates TKO Surgical, Inc., a specialty surgical device distributorship located in Beaverton, Oregon and operating in six states. Scott is committed to restoring native anadromous fish to their historical abundance in the northwest and he tries to find time in his busy schedule to chase steelhead with a fly rod whenever possible.
Lisa Hansen Lisa is a registered nurse and Bone Marrow Transplant Program Specialist at a Portland hospital. She enjoys working out, gardening and wine tasting. She can often be found steelheading on rivers throughout the Northwest.
Jon Kellogg Jon received a BA in History from California State University, Chico but found his calling as a real estate developer. As a member of the Urban Land Institute, Jon is very concerned with land use issues, especially as they concern habitat for wildlife. He lives in Portland and enjoys fishing, skiing and traveling.
Tammy Mackey Tammy is a lifetime resident of Southwest Washington and a fish biologist for the US Army Corps of Engineers. She serves as president of Clark County Trout Unlimited.
Doug Robertson Doug is a seasoned and insightful lawyer with twenty-five years of progressive legal, managerial, and business development experience in both publicly traded and privately held corporations. He has a strong background in product development, manufacturing, distribution, finance, and funding. Doug played a key role in the public purchase of the last 12 miles of the Deschutes.
Doug Vaday Doug has thirty years experience in executive management, operations and sales and marketing. He is also an avid outdoorsman, having traveled around the world in pursuit of fresh and saltwater fish on a fly rod. Doug is familiar with the issues and challenges facing wildlife and fish stocks with a focus on conservation and preservation of these natural resources.
